who killed the electric car?!?!

In 1990 California had a pollution crisis, which was when “The Zero Emission mandate” was created. This mandate required that 2 percent of cars sold in 1998 to be emission free, and by 2003 10 percent of vehicles sold also be emission free. This means, the car would be electric, eliminating all auto exhust that is released into the air. A few shrot years after this mandate was created, car compaies started to feel thretened by this vehicle, because they thought that they were losing profits that they would normally recieve from the conventional gas-powered car. Car manufacturers then collected and destrotyed the electric vehicles, this is when “The Zero Emission mandate” was killed. I don’t think killing this mandate was the right thing to do, especially knowing the current global and economic conditions of the world today. It is much more efficient and non-polluting to use electricity directly in a battery than to turn it into hydrogen fuel. I think that this is the governments, oil companies, and car companies fault, they are all suppose to work with the people, and support their needs, but in the case of the electirc car, the peoples needs and opinions were not  fufilled.
